The story centers on the teenage Louise Brooks, who ventures to study dance at the Denishawn school in New York City in the company of a chaperone. Both are looking to find themselves in the tumultuous 1920's in New York City, far away from their mid-Western lives in Wichita, Kansas. One middle-aged, uptight and jaded by life and love. One young, strong-willed and just starting out.
